About the Golden Teacher Strain
The Golden Teacher (Psilocybe cubensis) is one of the most well-known and beloved psychedelic mushroom strains worldwide. Revered for its distinct golden-capped appearance and reliable effects, it's a favorite among both novice and experienced researchers.
Under the microscope, its spores are typically dark purplish-brown, subellipsoid (slightly oval), and measure around 11.5-17 x 8-11 ยตm. Observing these features provides valuable insights into fungal morphology.
Note: Our spores are sold strictly for microscopy, taxonomy, and research purposes only. Cultivation of Psilocybe cubensis mushrooms may be illegal in your jurisdiction.
Microscopy Instructions
- Prepare your workspace: Ensure a clean, draft-free area. Wipe down surfaces with isopropyl alcohol.
- Gather materials: Microscope, clean glass slide, coverslip, spore syringe, alcohol wipe, lighter/torch (optional for sterilising needle).
- Prepare the slide: Place a single drop of distilled water (or immersion oil if using high magnification) onto the center of the clean slide.
- Sterilise (Optional): Briefly flame-sterilise the syringe needle tip until red hot, then allow it to cool completely. Wipe with an alcohol pad.
- Dispense spores: Carefully remove the syringe cap. Gently shake the syringe to distribute spores. Dispense a tiny amount (barely visible) of the spore solution into the drop of water on the slide. Avoid adding too much liquid.
- Apply coverslip: Hold the coverslip at a 45-degree angle to the slide, touch one edge to the water drop, and gently lower it to avoid trapping air bubbles.
- Observe: Place the slide onto the microscope stage. Start with the lowest magnification objective and focus. Gradually increase magnification as needed.
- Clean up: Properly dispose of the used slide and coverslip. Store the spore syringe in a cool, dark place.
